Lincoln Riley on USC’s No. 1 Recruiting Class: ‘They Want to Win Championships Here'
USC has secured the top-ranked recruiting class in the country, according to the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. This achievement marks the first time since 2006 that the Trojans have claimed the top spot. Head coach Lincoln Riley sees this as a significant step in bringing the program back to the pinnacle of college football.
Riley attributes the success to the collective effort and shared vision of the team and its supporters. He expressed his excitement during an interview with On3's J.D. PicKell on 'The Hard Count,' highlighting the program's ability to attract top talent from across the nation.
The class comprises 35 signees, with 22 being blue-chip prospects. Notably, a significant portion of the class is from California, with 20 players having played their final year of high school football in the Golden State. This includes five-star tight end Mark Bowman and three other top-100 prospects.
While prioritizing local targets, Riley and his staff also scouted and signed players from various states, including Texas, Ohio, Illinois, and Colorado. This diverse talent pool showcases the program's ability to attract exceptional athletes nationwide.
Riley's enthusiasm stems from the early arrival of many signees, with over 30 players already on campus for spring ball. This allows for quicker development and a faster integration into the team, which Riley believes is crucial for the program's success.
The class is stacked with talent, featuring 12 top-10 recruits at their respective positions. Riley is particularly excited about the potential synergy between these newcomers and the returning talent, aiming to create a championship-winning team.
The Trojans' success in securing the No. 1 recruiting class is a testament to their coaching staff's expertise and the players' commitment to excellence. With a strong foundation in place, USC is poised to make a significant impact in the upcoming seasons.
